If this is your first time hearing this and you have earbuds stop right now. Wait till you can sit in front of something that can put out bass. This creation is so disgustingly ace. Aghghgh I can't take it

There's so much almost going on with this one.

Big ups.

Big.

Conforce - Vacuum [0:03/6:21][FLAC][633kbps][44100Hz][28.7MB]

'dat track

EDIT: Good track, but tracks like these are dime a dosen. I like the clockwork sounds in the background.

This is one of my favourite techno tracks this year:

If you want us to hear it in full quality, then posting a non-HD Youtube video is a little bit silly, Mark. And yeah, tracks like this are dime a dozen. I think it's pretty boring to pick yet another solid and moody techno record as Track Of The Year.

I would rather pick something like this:

Hehe, this is the problem with dub techno (I mentioned in a recent thread) - no matter how enthusiastic and spectacular you announce the track, this usual set of predetermined rules and limitations pretty rapidly sobers you up and you end up realizing that you experienced just another different arrangement of the same old elements with maybe deeper bassline or more reverb or more lush atmosphere or subtler background melodies or whatever. If you get a kick out of this kind of thing, fine, but I can't imagine how this kind of tracks can cause such high acclamations anymore (not just here, of course). So yeah, this track is good in a way that it would definitely excel from some kind of mediocre dub techno set, but it's just a little less disposable than majority of the stuff coming out these days.

On the other hand, the only techno producer (at least that I know of) who's really leaving a mark right now is Andy Stott. These are kind of tracks that try something different and that will probably be remembered even after the year is over:

Alright if you guys cant hear the brilliance in that Vacuum record there just might not be hope for you in terms of musical taste. First off, I dont even hear that as a "dub techno" record. Its techno. And that bassline out of this world. Someone said "dime a dozen", yea well name me one techno track from 2011 that has a bassline that's remotely comparable to the one Vacuum. Also, the minimization and restraint that Conforce used to not make it too aggressive, to not take it over the top with the percussions is what makes it so sexy. Its pure class.

I changed it to the 320 version on youtube, noted for future reference.

However to come back with a 12 minute drum and bass sci-fi jam, I certainly do not feel bested in this contest. More power to you though if that's your thing ;)

I wrote reviews for both Andy Stott albums this year and I agree with your sentiments regarding his work.

"12 minute drum 'n bass sci-fi jam" is definitely more my thing than "By-the-numbers dub techno with a well engineered bassline".

I'll do you even better:

As for typical techno that is equally good, here you go:

Funny you say that, since there's a whole world out there of music that champions new achievements in sound design and synthesis, which works on so many levels, in so many directions, breaking conventions and rules, combining the uncombinable and still sounding coherent. Music caused by authentic emotional intentions that elicits full spectrum of emotions and feelings in the listener. And here you are, impressed by a track that has an unbelievable bassline. Really?
