Was given this and the demos online were brutal but I tried it out and it is rather quirky and unique synth.

I think they're great little things, especially for the relatively meagre price. I was a little disappointed at the lack of knobbage on the front though, although I guess they didn't want to steal sales from the Prophet 08, which i'd really like.

I'm pretty happy in the h/w synth department, but I've had my eye out for a good deal on a Tetra for a while. I've owned 2 P08s and a Mopho and they are both great units. The Mopho is a little too limited for my tastes and I just didn't use the P08 enough to justify keeping it when I downsized my studio last year, so I'd like to give a Tetra a try at some point to see how well it fits into my workflow/space.

Of course, I've also been lusting after a Tempest, but that's something I definitely can't justify spending the money on.

no onboard effects on the Tetra right?

Correct.

i was suggesting this to a friend of mine who does live shows but the more i learn about the tetra it seems better suited in the studio. I always thought it would make a cool little stage piece but lack of knobbage and effects would be pretty limiting, unless you wanted to run it through a pedal board ;)

...or you could map the Tetra's parameters to a MIDI controller.

I've been keeping an eye on one too for some decent 1 voice analog basslines. Never heard a bad thing about it from people that have played with it.

If you just want 1-voice basses, you could consider the Mopho. They're basically identical aside from the number of voices, outputs, and the Tetra has USB.

Yea I did. I almost got a MoPho but impulse bought a Virus C instead. Don't be surprised if I pick up a MoPho next year ;)

Made a template for touchosc pretty quick. And there is the actual editor to edit all the parameters.
