Anyone make it out last night?
Just heard about it today, talk about an under the radar event (or somehow I just missed it?), would have loved to check it out.... |

| I made it out. Not really sure how I feel about last night. It was great to see such a legend spin (for the very first time). His set was tight, detroit techno to the utmost, relentless. Nothing mindblowing however. That might have been the venues fault though...not a fan of the drake at all. We got there at 11:15, and ended up waiting in line for an hour. When we finally did get in, the place wasn't even that packed! A fairly hefty number of the people I spoke to, didn't even know who Juan Atkins was, I guess that's too be expected. Anyways, enough bitching on my end. To see him, for five bucks, in such a small venue was a treat. |

I got there ~11:30, 20 min wait to get in and they were already close to capacity. Really packed crowd though only maybe only a dozen knew who Juan Atkins was.
He came on before 1, didn't look impressed at all at the start. Really great tracks but rather disjointed in terms of flow until he took his jacket off and rolled up his sleeves and then dropped ~45 mins of sublime awesomeness. He finished by 2:30, the place had cleared out by then, it's not a late night crowd.
Fab to see him again and a steal at $5. Wish he could come back soon to play a proper set to a more appreciative crowd (but I'm not holding my breath). |
