honestly i'm gonna be quite pissed off if the world doesn't end or something major doesn't happen on or before dec 21. i mean all the end time scenarios seem to converge on that one date, so this is really our last chance to end the world. i don't know of any other prophecies goin past 2012, so if we survive then it just means we have to suffer for the rest of our days here on earth.

The end of the b'ak'tun (what people are calling the end of the mayan calendar) is the end of a ~26,000 year cycle the planet goes through called precession of the equinoxes. There is no 'end of the world' prophecy told by the mayans. There is however talk of the end of one cycle of time (or age) and the beginning of another.
There was a more precise 'galactic alignment' that happened back in 1998. |
