Honestly, as big as a fan as I am of him, he wasn't at all "poppy" Thursday. He played pretty hard.
AY STAR
i dunno man
those vids tell the differ imo
sounds just like how he was playing at gov island and a few recent sets i heard from him
that high pitched melody, generic trouse sound
no emotion and drive like how he was 2 years ago

He's definitely not the same guy that used to destroy Roxy, for sure. The Pacha show was basically an album release party and I think someone mentioned he played every song off the album. He never really played that hard at those outdoor parties (Summer Stage, Governor's, etc). But I really dug Terminal 5 and Pacha wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I honestly expected a show of disappointment.

To be fair - PvD has been experimenting with putting house songs into his sets long before everyone else was. He just always jacked up the BPM and put a killer loop underneath to make it more badass :p

not doubting that, but today he sounds like he lowered the bpm
years ago you would never hear him play that sound

whatever maybe you guys are right about him just playing all his hits and his new style just to promote his new album
in a few months time if he is back i will check him out again
hopefully he brings the pain :whip:

He'll be back in NY on Memomorial Day, outdoors.

Yea I hear ya - I was out of town last Thursday so I can't really comment on anything recent.. Just hope he doesn't slow down too much and lose that trademark sound.

as far as playing hard comment.

I recorded this back in 04, go to 3:02-3:55

For an angel Roxy

Nothing but you

I'm not trying to say anything about PVD right now, cause I've been out of his loop, but we all know he's a lot different know than what he used to be.

You can't compare PVD pre 2005 to now. His Twilo, Roxy, Crobar sets were beyond ridiculous. But those days are long gone. All I'm saying is the other night wasn't terrible.

I agree with you on this.

I wasn't there that night so I can't comment.
