TLA Fat Track or similar?

I've been toying with the idea of something like this for a while now but I was wondering if any of you had any experience of them.

I've two main uses for it which will be valves on input for both vocals and amp'd guitar etc, and secondly as part of a mastering or sweetening chain.

I'm sure these outboard summing mixers can be used for more than that as well though.

I think the Fat Track has been discontinued though.

Can't really think of a direct contender. Shadow hill has mix summer and spl might have some sort of tube unit but the tla is still easy to find. But something for both, nothing comes to mind that is remotely affordable

I have a UA 610. A U87 TLM 103 , a set of 121's and i honestly can't really say it sounds 5000 $ better than mic going to rme sound card. Different i guess but i wasn't blown away.

Focusrite Compounder? It's also discontinued and I've never used one, but a lot of people swear by its ability to phatten up tracks.

Yeah I've not seen anything similar either (within a similar budget at least)

I have looked at the rackmount variants but none of them seem to offer the same sort of flexibility. I'm not looking for something just to strap across a mix either and the ability to buss out from Cubase and have some controllability would be useful.

Shame it hasn't got a nice juicy dual channel compressor built in as well

Phat track, might be a bit too muddy and phasey to your taste
assuming that your looking a the 1000GBP mark
mzy i suggest the SPL Mixdream XP, a lot tigher sounding, but more ballsy than summing ITB

Probably not what i'm looking for as I like the idea of the Tube preamps for teh vocal tracking and most likely guitar amp micing as well.

Other than that it's just to use for many and varied tasks to see what kind of shizzle comes out.

For true mastering fatness i'd just send it off to a ME rather than buy one of those SPL doobies.
