why not save up your money and go to paris when you have a little cash...seems it would be more fun.

hostels are a great way to save a few dollars and you meet some real characters.
mnemonic.
I used couch-surfing while I backpacked through Japan. It is a great way to meet people and learn something about them. Plus everyone who I met had great advice on what to do and where to go next. When I travelled North to go camping, I met two Swiss backpackers who have been using couch surfing for over a year in their journey around the globe. Last I heard from them, they headed for Nagano, and were having a great time with their hosts.

A friend recommended it to me and I would recommend it to others. She used couch surfing for her travels around Europe. She stayed in Belgium, Englad, and I think Denmark and Sweden.

Have fun in Paris!

I stayed in hostels for my trip to England in September and would highly recommend it especially if you're traveling solo. Great vibe, lots of people that are in the same shoes and so much cheaper than a hotel.

A friend of mine did couch surfing on her euro trip and had nothing but great things to say but she traveled with a friend which is definitely safer than a girl staying alone with a potential perv

I don't have a choice. My friend is visiting for 5 days in March, so that's my window.

Plus I'd rather travel cheap and travel often. I'm pretty simple. I don't need much

Andrea have you seen that story about how random guests staying at the lady's house completely trashed it & robbed her? I forgot what that website was called - also the same idea, to rent out your place to others for short period of time, 1 room or the whole house

being a girl, I'd be esp careful letting complete strangers to stay with you, IMO

I've hosted about 20-30 different people myself this past year, and I've always had great experiences. In fact, I've never heard of anyone whose participated in Couch Surfing and had a bad experience or decided they didn't like.

i think many missed the part mentioned where people have to use their cc verification done. So the person staying is not completely anonymous.

plus online reviews.

I'm not really worried. Just hope I don't get awkward people...

I won't be right downtown Amsterdam, so I'm not sure how many people will want to stay with me anyway
