wait, SOPA i know, what is this PIPA trying to jump my protest bandwagon all of a sudden ?!
Its the senate version of the bill. The house and the senate usually introduce similar bills so they can be debated, etc in tandem.

I guess I am just jaded but I feel boycotting the internet for a day, willingly blocking out your website and calling to harass your local politician really won't do . Politicians only give a damn about themselves, their agendas and the agendas of the people who pay them to think. All 350 million Americans could call and whine all day long about how much SOPA sucks but if the government wants to black out the internet they will do it anyway.
The depressing truth. I don't even know what we could even do at this point, because money makes things happen in politics no matter how the people feel about it. This feeling of being controlled and being powerless to stop it is the worst. Is it irrational for me to think that things will get much worse and by the time they do, we will all be too weak to fight back? Am I just another uninformed, overly paranoid person? Because it looks like this is exactly what's going on, we're systematically being stripped of our power and they're passing more outrageous laws.
But seeing how calm everyone is about these matters suggests that I'm completely wrong and overreacting.

they also care about being RE-elected. Their corruption can't continue if people are pissed off enough at them ;)

Except more and more supporters of the bill are backing down:
As ty and corrupt as our political system is, there is still a lot more to it then our leaders working 100% for their own personal goals. Making the blanket statement that "oh protesting wont do any good cause it wont" is just idiotic. So if politicians only give a damn about themselves, the best thing to do is just fall in line? Right.

I don't have the money to fight, plus I have dual citizenship, so I could really give a less about this country. That being said, I have absolutely no faith in the American political system (and rapidly losing faith in other countries systems as well).

Well, considering America is an oligarchy pretending to be a democracy I doubt they are really worried about re-elections.

Well then it's a good thing that mere faith in a country's political system doesn't mean at all. See: American patriotism.

I just find it amusing people think their vote and concerns actually matter at all anymore. Until drastic measure (like, a real revolution) occur writing to your senator and calling your representative isn't going to do .

What's a "real" revolution? You mean taking up arms?
