i sold an item on ebay. Was covered. Had a literal documentary of me packaging the item, shipping the item. tracking number. paypal sided with buyer who obviously con'd me. Item was worth 1500. So ya. paypal.
Kysora
release the documentary, you could probably earn back the $1500 through sales

the sale was international, so i was as careful as I could be. But paypal just decided to go with the buyer. And there is nobody to call. Thats it. What they do is way past what one would consider illegal at least in NA. Even tried to get the police involved and hired a private investigator to find the guy and at least either charge him if he has the item or at the very least have a way to get his knee caps broken. So all in all, about 2200. And the cost of arranging above kneecapping is rather expensive to guarantee the work gets done. Like you could literally get someone wacked in your home town so i just cut my losses. I do think people like this need to be physically damaged. Not permanently. But some broken bones would of been nice.

they make you think you do. But you don't. There is a small print clause that says we are not responsible for anything is so many words. That buyer seller protection is just smoke and mirrors to make people feel safe.

That is super ed up.

I got shafted by ebay/paypal too with an international seller - same thing applies, they make you think it's safe to buy, but it's not;

I bought something off a guy in spain, paid him via paypal, he listed it as shipped and after 3 weeks, no show. I made a complaint to paypal, and he produces some shady incomprehensible document from the spanish post office about it having made it to US customs, but US customs had no trace of it ever arriving. I spoke to the spanish post office he sent it from and you could tell, they get this all the time, and were like "there's no point us trying to trace it, it was probably never sent". By the time paypal investigated, they said the buyer protection period had expired, so even if I proved he never sent it, he gets to keep the cash, and guess what? they keep their cut.

It's slightly different for domestic purchases as it's easy to prove with delivery confirmation from UPS/FEDEX etc, but I'll never purchase internationally again via paypal.

Yeah, paypal is a big scam. They operate pretty much how SOPA/PIPA would have worked; "we think you're doing something against our policy so we take all your money, no whining allowed".

My friend used to rent an 737 and got like profiled dj's to spin on the way down to Sensation White, and he used a paypal account for recieving payment for tickets, and after selling out every seat paypal suddenly decides that he's breaking some Paypal policy and freeze all his money. I think he eventually got it back after something like 6 months, but the damage was still done. And this isn't exactly an isolated incident. What utter bell-ends they are.
