Trying to recrate a Melody in Sylenth to learn

Bare with me, im quite new to this sound design thing but very eager to learn.Ive read up some stuff and got myself sylenth and started trying to recreate a melody from a bare wave no effects of a favorite track of mine to learn how its done and was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers as to how it sounds and what i could do to improve/what im doign etc.

I think both attempts sound good. Don't forget to add some reverb and EQ the unintended frequency ranges. There's also a plug-in called s(M)exoscope that I like to use. Its a freebie and works beautifully.
