Thing is, certain prisons have programs making the inmates make stuff for consumers. I am surprised they haven't used it to their advantage. Start using the prisons as factories, seeing the prisoners for sure get paid less than what people in China and India make. Wouldn't that be something. Americans bitch and complain about losing jobs to Asia, they can for sure have it start up again in the US. Just use the prison population. Imagine your iPhone saying "Made in America" wouldn't you be happy :p |
There are laws in both USA and Canada preventing the import of products made by inmates.....yet child slavery is aight |

| Fact is with things like Harper and the corporations calling the shots, our legislation will probably mirror theirs in the not so distant future. Despite the fact "terrorism" never affected us it was only a few years after they passed some serious bills stripping citizens of rights that we had the same up here. |

Yeah Marijuana is technically still illegal in Amsterdam. Come to think of it, I remember reading an article somewhere that Marijuana isn't legal in any country in the world, the closest it comes is decriminalization in a few places. |
That's my understanding of it. There's a difference between being legal and being decriminalized. That being said, IANAL. |

Keeping someone incarcerated is a hell of a lot more costly than whatever Chinese and Indian workers are paid. |

Keep in mind that for three-quarters of the duration of Bush's term the congress and senate were controlled by the Republicans, whereas presently the Democrats do not. That doesn't entirely excuse Obama, but notice how much of the borderline-fascist legislation thats been coming out of the US (in his term) has been happening since 2010? (i.e. after the Republicans have come to power in the Senate) |
