| Would not consider this Progressive House but you do have a good drum groove going though. I just personally am not a fan of the leads that are used in trance these days. |

| What genre would you consider this? |

| Trance really... Based on the simple key progression and what I refer to as "Cheesy Patches" with a bit of processing is what I base my "OPINION" on. I'm just curious as to how the style got changed from when I played it to now, because they are not the same. So what changed it? I'm not tooting my own horn but I have 12 years experience behind my opinion both production and DJ wise. |

Hmmm what changed? Well I would say the genre changed in this case. Unless something radical has happened with the definition of trance I would say this is definitely not trance. I mean I'm not the type to split hairs over genres either... but I would say these are quite distinct.
Unless there has been a drastic redefinition of terms here...
- Trance is 136 - 140 bpm. This clocks in at 126... thats kinda slow for even prog house (which is usually 128 bpm).
- it follows a progressive format... the track is based on mixing between elements rather than course / verse sections.
- its more percussively driven so in that regard its closer to tech house (I'm only using a percussive bass?)
- syncopated rythms with a 16th note groove dialed up (trance tends towards straighter, more mechanical rythms).
- Techy stabs?
- The chord progression of 1-7-6 and its permutations is probably one of the most (I would probably say THE most) used chord progression in dance music in general. Not really sure how this determines the genre?
- Most of the trance tracks I hear have a super saw lead usually playing a fast rythm, usually doing an arp or the cliche delay pattern. You thought my held lead was cheesey which is fine but I really don't see how it related to trance at all...
I could go on but... I think I've illustrated my point. Just as a sanity check for the genre I sent it off to a progressive / tech house label and its getting a release off them.
So maybe you don't like new trance because its actually progressive / tech house?
Like I said earlier I don't usually care about genres but this was like someone saying they like nickel back then another person responding that they don't care for new age heavy metal.
P.S - Really enjoyed the 'Back in my day / You kids get off my lawn!' vibe from your first few messages. |

| Decent production. I don't like the lowered volume drop in the beginning, it doesn't work. The filtered drop doesn't work either. The breakdowns could use more FX around the section changes. |

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I don't usually put alot of work into the intro / outro just keep it dj friendly so maybe ill go rework that.
I agree it could use a couple spot fx during the breakdowns, ill give that a shot thanks. |

Sarcasm is my second language so I'm right there with ya. I did state "OPINION" but you seem to take it as an attack based on your rhetoric. |
