haha... no offence to the British, but from what I've heard most brits (and Europeans, in general) don't know "how" to dance anyways... I live in western Canada where we have some of the best dancers in the world...

If you "really" want to learn how to dance, west coast style, check out www.shaddupanddance.com. Philosopop gives a pretty good example of the basics of the most common styles of dancers here... keep in mind he's just showing examples, he's not even "going off". Looks much better when it's all put together.

damn your gonna have sooooo much fun. my first party was the best. actually it was so good ive been disappointed with many parties ever since. but if you love this music. there is no not dancing to it. youll get there and everyone around you will be dancing and youll hear the music and then bam! your on the dance floor at least for a little bit. to learn how to dance.... well it comes easier for us who love the music cause we can feel it better. so youre already better than 1/2 the people out there. but watch people around you and just feel the beat. dont be intimidated. there is no need to fit in. if your going to a place where you feel you need to fit in....leave, run. you will not have a good time there:) you fit in cause youre there for the music. and to have a good time. and who cares what anyone else thinks. hopefully theyre there for the same reason you are. ok im rambling but damn this thread brings back memories. ahhhhhhh.. my first party:) your gonna have fun!!!!! just be yourself and read my lil signature down there:) much love! peace!:p

That site is kewl and all, but you don't have to break dance to have fun dancing, especially if the kid has never been to an event anywhere. And you don't have to break to trance. You CAN, you just dont have to. I say dance however you want and if that means learning how to break dance- do your thing. peace.

RAVE ON GIRL!!!
I went to Innercity last year, as im from holland.
And although you dont do drugs, I did (must be because im from holland LOL). Had a great expereince with it, and it keeps you going.

Furthermore, you read all the tips and tricks, but i have one REALLY good suggestion, as i experienced myself.

Dress like CrAzY!!! I went with to of ma friends, and we all dressed up like three jailbreakers. Criminals. Black and white striped costumes (WiCkEd!!!) (Happy to show you a pic!!!, contact me)
As soon as we walked in we were immediately asked to have our photo taken. We appeared on the innercity video, and even on the tv-special...All the ppl come up to you and say cool tihngs. "Hey, did you break out for innercity?"
" You guys are the daltons right?" HAD THE BEST TIME EVER, AND ALREADY PREPARING MA COSTUME FOR THIS YEAR.

No, no... of course not... dance however you want to dance, however the music moves you. Actually, the point I wanted to make, before I got carried away, is that since *most* people (from what I've heard) in the UK (where the kid is from) don't really dance in any particular style, there's nothing to be intimidated about and he can feel be free to dance however he wants. If that means jumping up and down, so be it. No one's gonna care.

I also wanted to point out that unlike many other places around the world, dancing is a big part of the scene here. Which I think is a very good thing, in many ways. First of all, if you're too drunk or too high you can't dance properly, right, so many dancers here prefer partying sober or relatively so, so that they can still dance with skill. Personally, I find that I dance A LOT more when I party sober. When I get high, I usually end up sitting down most of the time cuz I'm "too high" to dance properly. Parties can be very long, so it also gives you a chance to practice your dancing and something to talk about with fellow dancers.

I DON'T break dance... that's not what I'm talking about. NO ONE break dances to trance... I'm talking mainly about what's called "house stepping" (that's what I do), as well as "liquid" (which I don't do, yet). If you saw it you'd understand.

i love liquid, hahaha..all my buds call me liquid angel, cause i can go off pretty good...and my style's so different than everybody elses down here...yap,
i think i konw what your talkin about man....

and it is annoyin when people breakdance in the middle of a rave, and when you kick them in the head they get all mad.
there fault!!
theeyesofdarkness
ahhhhhhhhhh! liquid = the most entertaining way of dancing and the coolest looking by far!!
