The X Factor mogul Simon Cowell has announced that he will be launching a new TV talent show which aims "to find the world's greatest DJ's".
The show, which does not yet have a title, will operate in a similar manner to the X Factor, with DJ's battling it out to secure fame and fortune, reports Music Week.
Speaking about the project, Cowell described DJ's as "the new rock stars" and said that the show will capture the rise of "DJ phenomena". The show has been in development for over a year.
The show will be co-produced by Cowell's company SyCo and production group Overbrook, which is owned by actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Simon Cowell said of the show: "We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people. As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJ's are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show."
Jada Pinkett Smith said: "This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent. I am happy to be creating it alongside Simon Cowell, the Sony team, and my partner Miguel Melendez, on behalf of the Overbrook family."
It is still unknown which UK and US TV networks will broadcast the show, with more details expected to be confirmed shortly. |

| If there's one thing I trust it's Simon Cowell's take on DJing. |

| How are they going to represent a 2 hour dj set on a 1 hour show? |
|
|

| probably more about tracks and how they mix then the set itself |

yeah basically. I'd think for the show to be successful they'd have to focus on live performances from producers and not actual djs or djing.
i.e., max cooper (live), nero(live), chase & status(live), and others who perform their shows live. Maybe some room for zabiela.
That being said, there is no ing way these guys would show the whole world how they do their live shows.

| i doubt its gonna be established DJ's who are on the show....probably more like those guys would be judges....im sure it will be just regular bedroom dj's looking for a shot at stardom |

I know everyone swears house music is superior... But Pauly D is one of the most famous house DJs out there.

| this can't really work....it's just going to be a bunch of "loops & effects" dj's who try to out trick each other. reading your crowd, playing the right tunes at the right time, proper blends, being excited, pacing the night, and sharing exciting new material is the art of dj'ing. this is why not too many dj's are musical guests on letterman, conan or snl - you can't really sum it up so quickly! end of rant. |
