Migrashun is proud to present Deepchild LIVE
Migrashun makes its return after a small hibernation to bring you one of the most eclectic and diverse producers of recent memory. Deepchild is a Berlin-based DJ and producer who has productions and remixes on labels such as Trapez, Resopal Schallware, Anabatic Records, Get Physical, Freerange, Dieb Audio, Thoughtless Music and others.
He has performed both as a DJ and live in Vancouver, San Fransico, London, Berling, Tokyo, Servia and the Czech republic to name a few. His sound ranges from nu-jazz, glitchy deep house, dub tech and beyond. He will be performing a special LIVE set in the Lair that is sure to be something to remember. Expect deep, moody, warm and funky track selection on this special night.
Also performing will be Migrashun’s founder and executive A&R Mathias Matthew, rising Chicago star Mantas Steles of Ears Wide Open and Jason Warth of Curbed Recordings.
As with all Migrashun events, expect top-notch sound and lighting along with artwork provided by rising abstract artists. The event will be taking place in the private basement room of Vision Nightclub called “The Lair.” When you go to the vision door you will let them know that you are there for the Migrashun event and you will be directed to a private entrance to the event.
Please note that this event and room are separate from the rest of the club. Private bathrooms, seating areas and a private bar make things cozy for all types of guests. Discounted presale tickets will be available on residentadvisor.net until the day of the event.

As a core member of of the Trapez recording-artist roster, the deepchild production-aesthetic remains firmly routed in an exploration of "post-Detroit" machine-music - bass-heavy, insistent, angular, raw, noisy and dub-laden techno, with persistent references to classic-disco and soul rising and falling between rumbling proto-funk and mutant R'n'B.

Raw, seductively uncompromising techno, distilled from an arsenal of renegade drum-machines and decrepit synthesizers, with a live-PA embracing hardware-improvisation and excessive amounts of sweat.
This is the sound of forgotten-technology, ressurrected. Of old machines singing a timeless blues, both intimately-familiar and curiously alien. Demons liberated whilst noisy rim-shots rattle. Clean, the deepchild sound is not.

Recent dj support from the likes of Stacey Pullen, Troy Peirce (MINUS), Justin Martin (Dirtybird), Ivan Smagghe, Matthias Tanzman (Moon Harbour), Abe Duque, Paco Osuna, Basic Soul Unit and Adam Beyer, sits solidly against the proclamations of respected music journal, The Wire, who went as far as to proclaim that this sound was “as sexy and addictive as new-dub electronica gets”.
When Stereo-Heaven (the biggest dj store in Essen, Germany) found that their biggest selling tech-house record was infact written in a small share-house studio in Sydney, Australia (deepchild’s “No Disgrace”, on Future Classic), they took the time to make special mention of what is indicative of deepchild’s head-turning appeal:
“over here in my hometown in Germany, we really love “no disgrace”!! it’s also by far the best selling record in our new local shop, too…from deep or tech house to minimal djs, hiphop and electronica fans - everybody is into that 3-tracker…really an amazing 12? you’ve created!”.

Mathias Matthew has grown over the years to become one of the most technically skilled performers of this generation. Throughout the years he has gained experience working in production, promotion, and performance. Getting his start on the flyer team of Necto (Ann Arbor, Michigan) 2003 paved the way for many things to come. Since then, we have seen Mathias perform at numerous venues in Detroit including: Bleu Room, The Works, Finite Gallery, DEMF 2004, State Theatre, Centre Street, and Oslo just to name a few.
In addition to performing, Mathias also worked on numerous production projects including the likes of Departure (Works Monthly) and Brio. Working with Derek Fox, Brio produced the Drip events, which brought a new unique spin to Detroit’s electronic community. Brio used blank canvas venues to emphasize the performers while complimenting the venue with minimal eccentric visuals.
After relocating to Chicago in the fall of 2008, Mathias has played at venues such as Vision, Tini Martini, Victor Hotel, Wax, Smart Bar and other hotspots. He has shared the decks with artists such as James Holden, Jake Fairley, Frankie Bones, Pawel, John Digweed, Pfirter, Fairmont, DJ Three, John Acquaviva, Benny Benassi, Lucy, Luke Hess, Ryan Elliot, Paul Oakenfold, Kate Simko just to name a few. In 2008 and 2009 he worked as the Marketing Director of Volatl tm which has helped him gain knowledge and experience of the industry in all its facets.
Moving into 2009 we now see Mathias moving forward with his project labeled “Migrashun”. Over the past two years Migrashun has became a force in the EDM scene in Chicago and shows no signs of slowing down. Mathias has now moved into incorporating Ableton and midi controllers into his live performances, playing what some might label a
hybrid set of edits, tracks and samples in rapid rotation.

Between the satin sheets of your mind and the darkest corner of an after-hour party is where Mantas Steles massages your soul and provides the soundtrack for your darkest desires. An audio aphrodisiac is slipped into the cerebellum of all in range of the frequency The Kaunas Player, Mantas Steles, broadcasts. From behind the booth all manner of undergarment are turned to dust leaving nothing between your hips and the man responsible for moving them.
He is a man in love with a sound that is in love with your body and is going to tell every square inch of it a story with his crafted sets. Since the summer of 11’ Mantas has been occupying the fantasies of those lucky enough to catch him at his many gigs and continues to be one of Chicago’s most celebrated new faces on the local circuit.

With a focus on developing the visual elements that go along with dance music, Jason has spent the last several years serving the Chicago dance music scene through his unique approach to graphic design and photography. His work—which now permeates Chicago's electronic dance music community—has been one of many factors that has
recently helped that city regain its deserved reputation as an undeniable force within dance music.
His unique approach in directing the design for Vision Nightclub and VOLATL Events turned many heads—within Chicago and beyond—and eventually lead to his role as design director for 3 record labels: Wahi's "Curbed Recordings" (Chicago); Holosound's "Holobound Theory" (NYC); and the upcoming label from Bristol's Jody
Wisternoff (of Way Out West).
2009 marked the year that his commitment to this music became so great that it simply became impossible to continue to avoid applying his creative talents to the music itself. Thus, the fall of 2009 saw the official beginning of this branch of the tree—with his debut in Vision's main room, alongside Wahi (Curbed Recordings) and Seneca
(Audiologic), as well as the release of his first promotional mix.
Musically, Jason draws upon an assortment of influences—from the sexier deep-house sounds of Dana Bergquist, Luke Fair and Jody Wisternoff; to the grittier, tech-inspired sounds. |
