Hello people,
When it comes to trance, I am heavily influenced by the likes of arty and above and beyond. Mainly due to arty's use of a sidechaining kick in some of his tracks.
I'd like your thoughts on my starter trance track. Its a WIP.
Is it good? :D

Cons:
Not well mixed. Sounds like it is over-compressed and some parts sound muffled like the EQ is weird. You walk a fine line of too much reverb at the beginning and the 'lead' that comes in at 1:16 is a little cheesy sounding. You hold a bass note for too long, producers usually cut the bass up to keep movement in the song. The less holding of notes the better these days (usually). Some stuff sounds too loud, like the lead at the beginning.
Pros:
You have the basis for a viable current Trance song. That is, the style is right for 2012. So many beginners who make trance create songs that are stylistically from 1999 rather than now. I think it is interesting and has some potential cool things going on if they are executed properly. In the melody you have a part that all sound stops for just about split second or so which sounds cool to me.
Don't give up, not bad for a second proper attempt. With steady improvements in your sound and mixing your skill level is bound to be great sometime relatively soon. |
