first half of the song. Lots of sound space to fill. |

This takes me back to classic London house, I like the bass and also the space of the mix.
Now, that main stabby synth is very nice, but is a sound I've heard many times, I think the track would be more your own if you could work on that sound some, give a little more originality. Don't change it for a different sound, just work the parameters of the one you have. Maybe have the lfo's modulate the fm synthesis or similar.
The percs are fine, but maybe find a way to inject a little more groove, with very subbtle hits.
Like the track. |

| Thanks man. I will take all of your advices. I kept thinking the lead synth reminded me of a synth in Bedrock - Heaven Scent but then I realized it was Bedrock - Emerald that it reminded me of (which is actually my favorite Bedrock tune). |

| Love the drum work in this one, the mix is very clean, and that kick is nice and punchy, awesome cymbals. I must agree with Richard on the lead, I'd say play with the filter a bit on them, open up some of the lower end, cut some of the higher, and then automate it a bit more to keep it jumping/progressing. automating some filter play would add alot to the phasor effect you got going on that stab, maybe adding a bit more of a snappy decay. Awesome work dude, very retro groovy feeling. love the bass patch. |

I agree with the other comments - it's a nice track, but doesn't yet have a stand-out element to it. The feel is pretty good, but it doesn't progress that much and the main stab gets rather boring.
it needs subtle new elements or fx treatents every 16 bars or so to maintain the dancfloor's interest.
hope this helps

Main stab does get boring indeed. Thanks for the response!

I will take your advice sir! The filtering idea sounds like a plan and I will work on the EQ you mentioned.
Also, I used one of the 10 free Black Octopus Sound kicks that Toby Emerson gave away for free on the Production Talk section of the forum, which is still available I think. |
