Hey guys,
wondering if I can get some advice and constructive criticism on this track im working on. Im mainly after advice regarding arrangement, tempo, and overall feel/vibe of the song.
I havent begun mixing this song yet so balance wise it aint the best but again im mainly focusing on the above at this point and time, ill get to the mixing eventually once i feel the song is ready to be mixed.
There are a few effects which are just some of the instruments internal effects to help with inspiration during playing and help paint the picture a little.
cheers,

Mate it's hard for me to feedback as the overall vibe / fell is a function of the mixing which in turn is a function of each sound used.
Arrangment is fine for me, so I think your focus should be on each sound, as they all sound sort of middle of the road at the mo.
As an example to get you going, take the hats - try and really get them bouncing and as original sounding as possible. Take nothing for granted, a hat is never just a hat. Your open hat is not adding to the groove or drive. Think about layering some but use different layers for different events within say a 4 bar loop. Then as the track progresses bring in another open hat - you'll know when - just feel when is the right moment.
Anyway, I'm rambling here. |

Hey, your clap does not fit at all (neither of them :P), barely hear it. The lead sounds abit to dull, maybe set the filter to open on velocity and play with the leads velocity ;) Would sound nice. I think this song is missing percussion, arrangement is fine but at the moment sounding very generic tarnce. Bass also sounds like a cheesy preset arp. Near the end of the track it begins to drag on, nothing new happening.
Reminds me of Status Excess.
Hope this helps and goodluck. |

know what you mean. I kinda sensed that about the rhythm section but I havent been able to find a decent recourse which explains how to assemble the rhythm section to achieve a pro like sound/groove. A lot of vids on youtube only show the basics. I'd love to be able to achieve something like the start of this track (link below), once all the rhythmic elements are in (just before the paino part) its seriously moving.
