I'm trying my hand at trance and am about halve done.
I was wondering what 'the bar' is in terms of a really up to date trance track.

I'm thinking more uplifting as opposed to progressive.

Feel free to embed your nomination in the thread here. Maybe 1 each otherwise it gets too unwieldy.

Is Anjunabeats still where it's at in terms of the cutting edge?

Stop that laughing down the back, I'm outta mu depth here.

I guess someone like Kysora or Tehlord might have some ideas as to good current trancers.

Is a long break pretty much a deal sealer in this style?
Is rolling bass a requirement for it to pass as uplifting?
dj_alfi
Don't do it.

Too late, I have the melody down.

It sounds pleasing so far, but I just know the fuk up point will be me adding bass.

Any example you could post up here - also I was trying to recall the name of a producer you thought was up there a while back, when you were making a trance track - simon bennet or something

I'm almost always thinking of you Dave. You, your equipment and your harem. :D
Excess
hop on the electro trance bandwagon, seems to be teh fire right now:

not to mention owns face in teh cloob

i don't really see uplifting as the up to date sound, most live sets consist of far slower BPMs. even armins usual second hour of ASOT uplifting schranz seems to have been cut a bit shorter

Interesting order of thought there....I'll take the harem. Not that there's anything wrong with that...Dave's a decent looking dude and all but ...ermmm....yea...Harem ;)
