Hey! I started working on this yesterday, and i'm just curious if anyone can comment on this mix. Is it bad and why? I'think this is okay job so far.
This version still lacks FX, crashes, sweeps, but im on it.
I just wanted to know does this mix sound decent to you?

Excellent bass - wut are you using for it?
Don't like the kick, it's too wooden for me.
The hats are a little flabby and overlong and over powering for me.
Like this track and the feel overall, just some refinment needed. |

Yep, still early wip, will add definately more content.
Yeah, the kicks compression ain't still there. I could maybe add seperate high layer? And maybe take out little bit of that punch. (right now just 2) But for this track i'll make it punchy uplifting kick.
The hats are pain on the ass for me, i cant seem to get them sound good. I should change the samples, but i don't have ton of great samples.
And for the bass two layered (another the mid high is sylenth ( tons of compression), and sub base is rewired (reason 4) combinator, whit couple of thors.
[Edit]
The kick plays differently on waw file though. The soundcloud doesn't sound so good, still it needs work. |

Yeah, Richard has some valid point at the moment, try to find kick with smooth/deep and longer tail in it so doesn't create this contrast between this kick and the rest of those elements in this production. As far as hats, you starting very aggressively with it and I would like to see some more progressive use of it (use like two or three different patterns before you jump to this one).
Just my view of your track so far but with melody, I think you are in the right place where you should be, like it !!!
Cheers,

Thats right. The kick kinda controls the whole limiter now (buffered trough preset master) :DDD I used one kind of fattener 2 times on low end (one separate and one on group buffer), so it can be part of the problem ;DD
And i think i'm going to rework the whole hats. They dont seem to fit at all. |

The hatz are better, and overall you have an impressive sound that reeks of city atmosphere - great work.
So your overall sound is supreme.
The track melodically is ok, but I think you can make a better one, keeping with this same sort of sound.
I'm pretty jealous of your sound scape mate. |

Thanks mate! I dont think that there isn't really anything to be jealous of :D im just novice whit live 8 couple of plugins and a laptop. Havent even sended a single demo.
But i have to admit i was pretty impeessed myself whit this. The key thing was COMPRESSION. Offcourse these are basic rules of producing, but I'v started to understand these rules that producing includes during this project. I have really taken my time to compress and eq these out.
But anyways thanks! I'll let you know when its ready. |
