Hey guys, would like to see what you think about this remix that me and a friend put together. I guess the best way to describe the working process is that he was the engineer and I was like the director. At the end though, we both ended up influencing quite heavily how the final product sounds.

The remix is of Phantom by Summer (Brendon Collins) on his label Tulipa. We used a Moog Little Phatty for the arpeggiated bass line and hence the title of the remix. I think we ended up with a sort of old school interpretation of the original, which you can listen to here .

So here's our remix. Would love to hear what you think, even if you have suggestions. The deadline is 4 days away so I doubt we'll get to make any additions but who knows.

Thanks fellas!

listening now.

haha the intro sounds like a slowed down chemical brothers line, hey boy hey girl, cool. the production sounds nice, maybe the snare/clap thingy is a tad too loud in the mix. overall this track has a nice quality, reminds me of cid inc in a way, except not executed the same way to focus energy.

have you tried working this in a set to see how it works?
Adam420
yea was just playing around with it a bit earlier and managed to mix in and out of it pretty nicely. I guess it's not so obvious what kind of set this would fit into, be that a good or bad thing.

I really appreciate your reply. I wish I had better command of the software (Ableton in this case) to efficiently make all the little adjustments I wanted to but alas, in certain situations I was in the mercy of my studio partner.

Anyway I'm sure that if by some chance this remix gets chosen we will have a professional mix/master done.

ya your friend definitely has some nice skills.

Good effort man, really liked the first 4 mins or so, great groove, nice thick bassline and a good general mix of sounds. My attention kind of wandered though for the second half of the track and I think it kind of loses direction, maybe you need to change up some of the elements you're using a bit more, maybe strip it right back and build it up somewhat to keep it interesting during that section, I dunno it's just my opinion of course.

I'm digging this tune, Adam. Really nice work. Love the mix and some particularly cool psychoacoustic trippiness going on. I've got no criticism.

Thanks for teh feedback fellas. There are a few other good remixes in the competition but I think we have a decent chance at it. Too bad we finished so late, allowing little or no room for modification. I'm happy with it though.
