Strong Sub Bass

Hey all,

Having a listen to the following samples and listening to the sub bass:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCmA-ggjusA best heard at 1.22

http://soundcloud.com/jonathancarva...jal-falling-man at 0.31

http://soundcloud.com/jonathancarva...cobweb-jonathan at 0.35

Regarding the sub bass in each example I would very appreciative if people could offer insight in how such a thick sub bass sound is achieved. Vst's I am using include Sylenth1, Predator, V Station and more recently Discovery & Vanguard.

Concerning the first sample, the mid bass at 5:30. How would this sound be achieved. I am assuming 2 mid bass along with the sub. What would be the most effective way to program the mid bass here?

I very much appreciate all insight and advice here!

As always, thanks in advance guys :)

You need: eq, compression, psp vintage warmer, waves max bass.

But mainly: practice and proper mixdown.

EDIT: those aren't the best examples btw. Look at say Swedish House Mafia - From Miami to Ibiza. Or like Arty - Around the World. Those would be top notch examples of sub bass use.

Also, use saw waves. Forgot to mention that.

You should only need sylenth1 to achieve that sound btw.

If you want a really nice deep bass, its all about keeping everything else out of 0-200hz. Find a complementing kick and use a sine based bass.

Those examples are nothing special at all.

Exactly right, and that's why jayxthekoolest suggestion of using Waves MaxBass is a really, really bad idea.

Yea i find Maxxbass and Rbass from waves tend to muddy a mix more than help most of the time.
