yup!
jad
how was it?
Jeff Button
Performance wise, he's not quite as entertaining / talented (IMO) but he's still a legend in his own right, and played a very tight set - full of crazy looping, scratching, constantly apply himself to create a unique interpretation of every song / sample. He finished up with some encores, one just happened to he one of my fav hip-hop tracks of all time (see the vid - second clip - DJ Shadow Remix of Meiso w/ The Roots)

Looking forward to DJ Shadow - April 1st!

fun time but the platform guestlist was useless - not sure if it's the bar's or promoter's fault but it was a crappy way to kick off the night. i grabbed a ticket from someone outside but quite a few people including some of my friends left very pissed off, and they showed up well before 12 only to keep getting sent to the back of the line by the bouncer and then finally told the platform list was closed. bad form

Over 80% capacity was sold in advanced tickets.

Bottom line - if you want less hassle, buy a ticket or you're leaving yourself wide open to possible disappointment.

those Funktion speakers really make the place sound nice. and DJ Krush got some serious skill behind the decks -- at one point I looked up and saw his hands moving constantly, what I took for a track with a drumline over top was a series of quick cuts. decent flow, excellent selection of tracks.

@ Jeff Button - never knew you spun anything except house. you got any downtempo sets up?

i got in at 10:45 and it was already busy with a huge lineup outside.

Check my "DigDeep" podcast on iTunes (see my sig) or DigDeep Disco mixes on my Soundcloud. http://www.soundcloud.com/djjeffbutton

It's more nu-disco / house, but pitched right down. Some as low as 96 BPM :)

It's a shame we had technical difficulties - was really looking forward to throwing it down to a full house.

i get that but guestlist shouldn't be offered 2 days in advance if it's not going to be honoured - obviously at that point the majority of tickets had been sold. whatever though, at least i got in. the bouncer working the door actually pissed me off more than the situation itself, but i guess i shouldn't be surprised

respect to platform for making the booking, i'll probably continue to support their events but will think twice before going to wrongbar again
