I was just reading through an article on-line: http://www.canada.com/toronto/story...A-890454171531} [3 Toronto men likely first in Canada with West Nile]
and from the sounds of it all the hype that media put around it is pure bull. I mean there is cause for concern but really you are more likely to OD from E than get the West Nile and die from it!
"not to panic, noting the risk of contracting West Nile is very, very low. Most who do get it fight it off without knowing they were infected, while a minority suffer flu-like symptoms such as aches and fever.
Only one per cent suffer encephalitis -- inflammation of the brain that can cause fever, headaches, stiffness, confusion and muscle weakness -- and only five per cent of those suffer long-term consequences or even death." |
