I only use Facebook. I don't really see the need for Twitter, since Facebook status updates are basically tweets anyway (and a lot of them are actually cross-posts from Twitter).

Hate facebook, and pretty much every other social networking site. I use google+ but I check it like once a week and haven't posted in a long time on there.
I do like last.fm a lot, mainly because it actually serves a purpose beyond a glorified circle jerk between high school and college acquaintances.
Twitter should die in a fire. Most worthless scumhole of the internet and it has significantly helped ruin modern journalism.

This is one of many reasons why I avoid the social media like the plague:

In case you missed it, researchers at three U.S. colleges say they've figured out a way to predict future job success by scoring applicants' Facebook profile pages. This wasn't a mere exercise in finding embarrassing college photos. The profs created five categories that map to character traits which often lead to success at work: Conscientiousness, emotional stability, agreeableness, extraversion and openness. Then, people were boiled down to a "personality score," which may as well be called a Facebook score. Surprise! The score did a decent job of mapping to employee reviews six months later.
The best thing about Facebook is finding and organising nights out, parties, gigs and so on. There are so many events I just wouldn't hear about if not for Facebook. I have all my favourite promoters/clubs added so I get a feed of upcoming events I'll be interested in, and the Events page lets you keep track of everything coming up effortlessly. Also, there are a lot of people you meet on nights out that you would never get in touch with if you swapped phone numbers, but if you add them on Facebook you can remain in contact if you ever need some buddies for a party somewhere.

I agree with this completely. Facebook makes connecting with events, and people from said events, MUCH easier.
It's a lot easier to create an event page for, say, a big group dinner or something, than it is to text or call every single person you want to invite and then field the slow-release of responses over the course of the next day.

I wouldn't say that's the best thing (I found out I had much more in common with some acquaintances than I had previously thought, and there's nothing more awesome than making new friends), but I found out one of South America's greatest acid techno producers/DJs lives just 20 minutes from my flat... and I had no idea:
Thanks to Facebook, I now 'avin' it 'ere :D

Facebook only. Nobody uses twitter here, tumblr didn't catch my attention and I've never heard of the other two. Facebook is enough, it provides free communication and some fun, that's all I need/want.

I used to have Facebook; it's been a year since I deactivated it.
Best online decision I've ever made.
