I never quite understood how in the US some people lead the most promiscuous lives possible, while others are bat- insane religious.

Seriously though, this guy is alienating people so hard he has absolutely no chance of winning the general election. In the process he also seems to be shoving the rest of the GOP's candidates so far right that Obama could probably scoop up the central-right vote with relative ease.

If you listen to Republican pundits blather on news networks, they are all terrified.

Its the best thing really that could happen to this country. The bats are tearing down the cave.

I just can't wrap around my head the fact that santorum and others are not just a giant act of trolling

In debates like this I find it hard to pick a side. I hate religious people but I also hate raging leftist atheist twats. So I usually just post a lolcat.

I believe the former are a reaction to the latter, which in turn become even more religious.

(I don't know if it's possible to embed starting from a specific point, so here's the link instead)

I've never noticed before just how much Glenn Beck looks like Kenny Powers.

To answer that-

Education combined with combat training

Stupidity, while not endemic to the US, they like to let everyone know

Hamburgers and Fried chicken

All things considered, they're doing very well for the fringe-group christians and convicts that Europe ejected.

"President Obama once said he wants everybody in America to go to college," Santorum said. "What a snob.”

The GOP candidate was speaking to a crowd of Tea Party activists in Troy, Michigan.

"Not all folks are gifted in the same way," he explained. “Some people have incredible gifts with their hands...there are good decent men and women who go out and work hard every day and put their skills to test that aren’t taught by some liberal college professor trying to indoctrinate them. Oh, I understand why he wants you to go to college. He wants to remake you in his image. I want to create jobs so people can remake their children into their image, not his."

His comments echoed remarks he made on Friday, calling colleges "indoctrination mills."

This from a man with a BA from Penn State, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and a JD from the Dickinson School of Law. It drives me insane how these GOP candidates use simple changes in verbiage to dumb down their rhetoric. I swear to god if I hear them refer to Americans as "folks" 100 more times...

Santorum proves that you can have the best education money can buy and still be a moron the rest of your life.

Belief can undo wonders.

I've got a friend, now a PhD candidate in linguistics, who firmly believes the Tower of Babel existed... it's just some inconsistency from her part (she's quite the creationist also), but it comes to show not even the best scientific research - even from her own field - could not shake off her previous beliefs. Crank this up to eleven and you've got Santorum.

After a speech in Dallas on Thursday, Jeb Bush also recoiled: “I used to be a conservative, and I watch these debates and I’m wondering, I don’t think I’ve changed, but it’s a little troubling sometimes when people are appealing to people’s fears and emotion rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective.”

“It makes the party look like it isn’t a modern party,” Rudy Giuliani told CNN’s Erin Burnett, fretting about the candidates’ Cotton Mather attitude about women and gays. “It doesn’t understand the modern world that we live in.”
