So i bought this vinyl today in the hope of recording a nice flac instead of the 160 mp3 I did many moons ago.

The reason I bought the vinyl is that my 160 mp3 from 1999 is the exact same version oakenfold played. The digital version is not.

Turns out he vinyl I bought sounds the same as the digital version!

Does anyone else have the proper oakenfold version, or know how I can buy a copy that isn't the ty digital version.

First sample is my 160 mp3..... second sample is the vinyl today

the version youre after was released on amato international (Discogs here). I do have a copy I could record for you tomorrow if you like?

The version re-released by Lost Language almost 3 years ago sounded definitely different than the one from Oakey's EM WT set, but it could as well be the case of the quality of the recording.

Which label released the vinyl that you've bought?

I also do like the 'original' version more.

I had the Amato Green release in 1999, the cover was a shiny plastic. It had the same mixes on the vinyl (Silk and Lightning).

This one I bought (which i bought via that same discogs page) has the same green cover, the same mixes but it is not a shiny cover it is paper type material.

The recording quality is not the issue, they are different kick drums and FX as I had the same version as oakey played in 1999 on Amato with the same artwork as this one, and I still have the 160 rip of that vinyl to this day.

Here is pics of the vinyl i bought:

interesting, I have the one with the shiney cover, looks identical to yours in every other respect! Same cat number and everything...

Agree with above

wow thanks so much DK

Yes that is the cover I used to own back in the day, sold up many years ago!

How bloody odd though they are identical label wise and cat no, yet different mixes :haha:

Wow, blast from the past to take a full listen to this.

thanks for sharing the rip!

the version rereleased on lost language must be a remaking. it has the same structure but the sounds are a bit different. i'm guessing that maybe the master was lost or something for the time when lost language was going to re-release it.

While that may be the case, it still doesn't explain how my amato vinyl has the re released version on it, unless they repressed it years later with the same cat no, artwork and everything ?

I'm not sure how else it would be possible.

yeah, i read that now. second time for me in case of your threads. it has to be a case of replacal/remaking etc. but if it's with the original pressing, then the version oakenfold was first pressings, all subsequent version containing is the second version then.
