Another way not to make money (pg. 3)

Meh, everybody complains about not making enough money, but then we go and do things that work against us, like posting on TA when I should be working. I think you're taking this too seriously and too personally. It's just a excuse for a bunch of us hobbyists to have a little fun. Hopefully, Raphie will recoup his small investment. Beyond that, I'm sure no one cares.

To make it worth it for the distributors Raphie plans on releasing it through?

He doesn't have a website where he can publicize this himself, so it's not like giving it away for free suddenly gives us a huge audience. He's willing to toss $30 to put it through 127 different distributors, if he makes any money at all he said we could put it towards the forums or to a charity or something.

If we don't, again, who the hell cares?

Cloony's argument is right.

This is going to be a long thread following a losing path.

Clooney's argument addresses intentions that don't exist. What he's saying has absolutely nothing to do with the collab. I don't see how that makes him "right".

why don't you drop some knowledge on how ,he can make some money?

wasn't referring to the TA collaboration. He made another one. The fact that you have it in 127 stores to most lawyers would be what you would call intent. The TA collab brought up Raphie's history of making and selling compilations and I thought i would let him know without ting on his thread as he politely asked as well as anyone else that harbours similar delusions that the days of selling compilations are over. And i would only bring this up because Raphie and his well reported failure at making money stems from a combination of not being very good at making music and stupid business decisions. I can't help him make music but I can enlighten him to what is a stupid business idea.

As far as how to make money, well there are many steps. I suppose most of you can start with step A. Don't suck.

It would make money if Ultra was putting it out or if some major artists like Tiesto were on it. It is all about getting the audience the movers and shakers at the top already have.

But that isn't the point of this album. Obviously it isn't going to be released on Ultra, obviously, in a market where even major music studios are faced with low music sales this compilation isn't going to buy each of us a new car. I doubt it will even buy a single one of us a tall coffee at Starbucks.

I would be all for giving people the option to download it for free or buying it. Soundcloud gives this option. The songs will also be available for purchase and what if any money is made will probably be from that. Having it available for purchase gives a little more credibility and thus more people might download the free version.

But even giving it away free you might only have a few downloads. That is the Internet 2.0 or whatever the stupid name for it is for you. So much bad content people don't want free stuff.

The strength of something like this is the fact it is a large amount of people. It isn't just some guy spamming people to listen to a mix, it is a real compilation, with lots of artists.

again , i am not talking about the TA collab. Next person that mentions that is going to get a slideshow of me taking a via my poop cam sent to their pms and posted on their website guestbook and or soundcloud.

I actually wasn't referring to you. I was referring to the ones who asked how this could make money and also to say I wanted it available for free download.

If you compose as bad as you read, you have a long way to go.
i NEVER mentioned a SELL price anywhere. Only mentioned the cost to me which I'm happy to take. Really L4C you need to pay more attention.

he was charging 30$ for a compilation which he referenced in that thread so i'm just going by what he has posted and his previous patterns. Not about money ? And he has done a bunch so i think somewhere in that pea sized brain was a delusion that there is money. Then when there isn't, he blames the system.

it seems the price is now 11$. I remember it being 26 when he first posted it. But ya, 11$ for a mix compilation ?

Nobody is talking about any money for this, it is simply our TA group collaboration activity - if something good will come out of this that would be above and beyond what we are shooting for ;)

Some of you would do well to understand that just because you don't agree with someone else doesn't mean you have to disagree with someone else.
