Silk Royal Records label manager Jacob Henry cordially invites you back to his monthly event at Vango Lounge and Skybar in Center City, Philadelphia, for a special, 6-hour house and progressive event. We will be celebrating the 32nd label release, "Heatwave," by Danish label heavyweight Schodt (and featuring a remix by American star Shawn Mitiska). The featured guest of this month is Ryan Tyas, a NYC-based veteran DJ who will be making his debut appearance at Vango. Also involved: talented event fixtures Ali Mahmud, Enkai, and DB 9.

One of Silk Royal's most successful and beloved artists, Schodt, returns to the imprint for the first time in nearly a year with the triumphant "Heatwave," a much needed respite from the winter chill of February. With countless classics to his name, including "White Tiger" and "Here With Me," Schodt continued to pad his resume this past year with a #1 hit single on Beatport's trance chart ("Fly Into The Night"), as well as appearances on several massive international DJ compilations. The sound proffered on "Heatwave" is a genre that he has truly mastered -- progressive breaks. The tune begins with hard-hitting breaks and a resonant, meaty bass; soon thereafter, a variety of lush pads and dancing arps soon fill out the soundscape. At the quarter turn, we are given a teaser of the main theme: a signature layered piano and string combo. Later on in the main break, all of the low-end is pulled back, and we are met with the lead melodies in full force: a truly awe-inspiring moment in the track, in which Schodt (once again) succeeds in layering a dazzling array of uplifting arp lines and delicate synth stabs to euphoric effect.
On remix detail is American progressive star Shawn Mitiska, a proud addition to the label roster. Perhaps best known for his numerous Armada hits as part of the trio Cerf, Mitiska, & Jaren (which have received millions of hits on Youtube, as well as IDMA nominations), Shawn has also produced various gems independently on powerhouse labels Anjunadeep, Enhanced, and more in recent years. His remix is a peak-hour progressive interpretation, centering on the jubilant vibes of the original. In the initial build, a "classic" prog house rhythm makes way for an aggressive bassline groove. Suddenly, in the first of two massive breaks, we are hit with the stunning main melodic motifs, slightly deconstructed and slowed down here for maximum emotional effect. Again, in the main break, we are treated to the ecstatic power chords of the original, with a fierce drop to follow.
