Nice to see him with the ASOT shows go for a harder trance angle. Could use a little more though but the ASOT shows are his best usually.

Probably Oakenfold.

See, we agree on something!

I did like Armin's set a lot. I always just end up comparing his sets to his sets from 2003-2008, and these days it just isn't the same because he spends so much time pushing his label's newest tracks.

His Trance Energy 2006 set is the stuff of legends.

that track around 30 minutes form Oakeys set is pretty dope. Very old school sound.

Thats a huge pet peeve of mine with him and A&B. I completely agree, when DJs have to promote label or compilation stuff, it completely takes away from their creativity IMO. I bring up these two artists because I am a fan of their own production and creativity, not necessarily the Armada and Anjunabeats stuff.

I agree. I tend to enjoy A&B's sets these days a lot more than Armin's, but that's basically only because I prefer the stuff being released on Anjuna (I like more laid back sounds).

It's fine that they do that on their radio shows, the new tracks are what I want to hear. But in a live set, I want to hear the DJ tell a story, rather than simply "throw together a mix of our label's new releases and a few of our hits and just make sure they're in key".

Like I said, I personally think A&B do a better job of it. Armin just seems like he's trying to get every single track he plays into the Beatport Top 10, and the flow suffers because of it. And now there's this expectation among new fans that an Armin live set should sound like a live episode of ASOT, and that's not at all the way it should be (in my opinion).

Well here's the problem with that (IMO). Assuming Armin actually still does ASOT every week, which I believe he does, it would be literally IMPOSSIBLE to go through all the tracks being released on every label every week AND find up-and-comers to sign. So I feel like he probably does a lot of Armada and well known label songs in his live shows just because that's what he filters for ASOT and ASOS throughout the week.

I would seriously love to ask Armin how the he has time every week to listen to that many songs. At some point he's gotta get a little sick of it... I'm sure he has people helping him out but still, he's listening to at LEAST 15-20 a week! Crazy.

been listening to armin's set over and over, i really dig it.

he also mentioned on twitter that he wants to play different sets for each asot 550 event so looking forward to all of them.
