Video with mixdown advice / Rough walkthrough of a mixdown (Ableton)

I made this video to show a couple friends who are working on getting their mixdowns better, and to start off with this one as the first of many videos to come. This isn't extremely in depth but may be helpful to intermediate skill level producers or anyone starting off. I didn't put a lot of planning or thought into it, but it should still be somewhat helpful. 4 parts, 35 minutes in length.

No prob. It's kinda all over the place, but I'll be making some actual tutorials soon now that it's up and running.

I think its tough to get a grasp of the mixdown while watching "behind the scenes" videos.

The producer will say they did X, but then you look at the channel strip and it has like 20 plug-ins on it. It's like come on, there's more to it than what you're saying!

The best videos are ones that go step by step and explain the process as they work on the song. It takes a lot of work and time, though.

That's why they charge for them. :P

The most popular tutorial videos are usually pretty bite size. Anything longer than 10 minutes, or something that takes multiple video chunks will generally lose people. I will usually watch a video series to the end and I always notice people will lose interest in each subsequent video.

OK I see what you mean. There are a few tips, but they're sporadic. I wonder what I good topic/focus could be for about a 15 minute video that goes through each step to demonstrate how I achieved the result. Any ideas? Maybe just "How to put together an 8 bar loop of full percussion from scratch"? Haven't brain stormed too much so ideas are welcome.

That sound like a good idea to start. Then you can expand on different things after that like: FX, bass, leads, arrangement, etc.

Cool. If any new comers have specifics that they'd like covered, anything that can be combed over in a 10 minute video I'm willing to consider (yes, you can ask here...) I think the next one I'll get into though will be chord progression, since that's how I got my start as a teenager. Leads could be included in that but it might expand it to like 20 minutes.
