Not quite but it has changed the dynamic of many forum based communities - mainly that people who used to post certain questions on forums now just post them on Facebook -- but one intersting thing is that Facebook also brings a lot of people to TA - so there are more readers ...and traffic compared to 2 years ago.

FB 'addicts' vary from messageboard 'addicts' and vary from Twitter 'addicts'. I see online entities with great twitter/fb followings that have almost zero transfer to their actual website... fb/twitter are very sticky just as certain forums are sticky.

On a side note, how would you guys handle a big influx of noobs? Would you welcome them with open arms or scare them away only so you can whine about it in threads like this? :)

...which all brings to light a topic that has always intrigued me - that of the thread 'starter' versus the thread 'replier' -- some people almost NEVER start threads.

Swamper, I am all for it. I know a lot of TA people will be annoyed with the same questions being asked over and over (hence the c0r guide you mentioned).

The thing I don't like about a great flux of noobs is because certain people on here really just love to sign onto TA to just e-rape people on these forums who are less intelligent or people who don't know as much about the origins of certain genres of music or the completely infatuated people that are into the new mainstream music like Afro-Jack, David Guetta and especially Dubstep. I am not saying debates and arguments on music/intellegence should never happen and are evil.

Actually, quite the opposite, I think debates/arguments on Music, Music Production, Venues and even the non musical debates in the c0r are healthy but what the older/elite members of TA need to understand is that as much as they hate Dubstep and Paris Hilton Djing, if they were born in 1995-1998 like most of this younger EDM generation, the chances of them knowing about Djs like Oliver Prime(I mentioned him because I love his "Free Hugs" single)would be almost impossible right away. A lot of people living in ty places of the world such as myself, my city is lucky if Tiesto shows up. All the better shows go to Austin and we can't always make it. Anyhow........

So, in short if TA syncs up with Facebook or something similar the elite members might want to inform newer members about what they like and know and expect from music instead of running everyone off with insensitive Posts. I know this will be hard for some members to do and I'm not saying TA should be a Forum full of PLUR jack-off fests but it could use some more understanding.

Not every 12-19 year old kid was born with a Nick Warren mix in its hand.

Let's be honest, most here will openly welcome female noobs, even if they happen to be alts/fakes.

WHat you lot don't realise is you're really just talking about the c0r, where, indeed Facebook may have somewhat killed your game. Facebook is ideal to to talk to a select group of friends(sic) all referencing the same in-jokes and memes.

However, the other section such as the production forum are thriving, with a constant influx of noobs and avid participation from many seasoned TA's many 10 years+, and is one of the few places left on the net that is still useful, self regulates (to a degree) and has minimal moderation.

Facebook does not lend itself well to in depth discussions, it's all about quick limited/useless info so it doesn't surprise that the c0r has taken a hit.

Thread title should read Facebook killed the c0r, not TA.
