Never shooting any living thing. Never wanna know what it's like to get shot. Indoor shooting ranges are okay though.

killing things...it's in our DNA. :toocool:

It takes no skill to drive down to the local grocery store and pick out a slab of meat...unless of course you live here in Chicago where driving anywhere is hazardous.

agreed, but then it's not like shooting an animal with a gun requires superhuman skills either. it's just a thrill to the hunters i guess but i can't say i understand why

Game animals know they're always in the game. If not man, then wolf, lion, or bear will take 'em out.

No. Probably not.

//Wait, define 'game' animals? The wolf, lion, and bear are game to some people.

I think those are known as Big Game animals. As in, with this game, are you the hunter, or the hunted? The stakes just got BIGGER!

Boredom must be a huge factor. I'm sure that if there were actual things to do in rural areas, people might be less inclined to hunt for sport.

You can only shoot your tin cans so many times.:(

I'm surprised that not a single one of you has yet seen the irony in this. All the guy ever talks about is hunting poon and now he suggests that he simply doesn't 'get' it. :conf:

For some people it's the thrill of the chase. For others (such as you, anotherway) it's all about the kill.

i don't in get it. you're goin up against an animal when you have a) superior intelligence
b) a gun or other such weapon
c) you sneak up on them
d) they don't even realize they're being hunted by you

and then when you succeed you tout this as some sort of accomplishment? wtf?

PS: i mean hunting for sport and not for food

You have clearly never hunted. A successful hunt is an accomplishment with most game animals because it is hard, very hard. While you are right that the hunder has superior intelligence and weapons you seem to entirly neglect the fact that the game animals usually have superior senses, better ability to flee then we have to chase, and tend to run like hell as soon as they know people are anywhere near them (while they may not specifically know they are being hunted they sure as hell know that people are to be avoided at all costs). The challenge in hunting is finding the animals and getting close enough to take a kill shot. Most hunters won't get in position to take a shot on most of their hunts. Of course then there is the additional challenge of getting a kill with your shot as the area one needs to hit to kill the animal is (on most game) pretty small and you need to know where it is and where to aim considering the angle of the animal to you (with deer it is an area of about 6 square inches just behind the shoulder... 6 square inches from a 100 or more yards away is a difficult shot). Hunting is very difficult; subsequently, it is an accomplishment when you take down an animal.

I have never successfully hunted a large animal; however, I have succeeded with small game before. Hunting really isn't for me because it requires way more time and patience then I'm willing to put into it; however, I can completely understand why people enjoy it.
