I never knew it was a genre in itself, I've always though that it was just Goa trance, but thanks to Oakey's Glow in the Dark I'm interested in building my collection with some cool trance tracks that have a rich acid sound, post your favourites!

A few recent favourites:

I've been hearing a lot of acid in trance recently, which for me can only be a good thing. Nothing sounds better on a dancefloor when you're mangled than a screaming acid line.

Great thread!

Thanks System-J for that Cosmithex track. Completely missed that somehow

The whole album, Visions Of Sound, is outstanding. Acid-soaked, no-nonsense trance from start to finish.

Why am I not already aware of that?! Will definitely check that out! Cheers

It isn't acid just because there's a 303 in there.

To me, an acid sound is a low range synthesized sound with a distinct, rapid filter cutoff modulation, plus a high filter resonance.

But then again, I'm one of those people who think of chemical protonation when I hear the word 'acid', rather than the drug with the same name.

But if we know what acid music sounds like, what does alkaline music sound like?

Acid is the sound of the TB-303 and its various emulators and imitators, particularly when they're being tweaked. We had this debate before, and your side lost.
