Something is missing

So, I've been producing music on and off for couple of years now. Recently I felt a strong urge to improve myself and try to reach professional level of sound. Below is the link to a progressive track that I'm working on at the moment.

It's sort of a climax bit, when filters are opened etc. Something is missing and I feel that it sounds wrong. Could you please help me with that and tell my your opinion? Is it bad? Is it good but lacks proper mixing/better sounds/more interesting progression? I honrestly just don't know what should I improve on.

I think its missing a crash or some kind of downlifting fx. You could even use noise. Also a ride on the 16th's or offbeat hihat will add the intensity your lacking, you dont have any hats at all that i can hear.

Maybe also try adding some distortion on the lead, and only mix it in on the higher notes.

Just keep making more music and you'll get to where you wanna be.

A bassline?

I'm on a huge percussion kick right now and this track has none. Besides the kick, and the drowned out hi-hats (so far in the background) they're barely audible I'd spend just as much time on that part as you did the rest of the track. I'm sure you'll notice a huge difference.

Secondly, and something I'm beginning to work on. FX! I'm not just talking about reverse cymbal crashes and white noise either. Find some tonal / soundscapes and some other fx elements and throw them in throughout your track. Highlight certain parts with certain elements and bring your track to life.

Thank you all for your feedback, I really appreciate the fact that you did take time to listen to my crap.

I've worked for a bit on the track, tried to follow your advice and this is what I made. Is it a good direction to go?

Okkkay that was a little harsh.. Here do this.. Mute everything except your kick, bass, and what hi hats you have... Then turn up the bass line and put massive amounts of percussion in your track.. Establish your groove..

Then.. turn up the other parts and balance the leveling throughout.. then come back..
