The Axwell remix is main room house, or "trouse" if you like. The Cosmic Gate track is Euro trance.
EDIT: Although calling the Cosmic Gate track uplifting trance would be fair. |

I don't disagree that this music isn't exactly very good, but I'm kinda tired of these smartass replies we keep giving new users. Discard your egos and actually answer his ing question, please? This is nowhere close to progressive house. It's like a slower, crappier version of melodic trance. It reminds me of some of those Future Trance compilations, with much less bass.
This is basically just vocal trance. |

How exactly do you tell the difference ? There are so many genres and sub genres I find it difficult to tell what is what.

ASOT, you can go to youtube, google, or discogs and type a year followed by the subgenre. That's how I discovered progressive house and progressive trance from different eras. |

I don't think so. Starting at the present and trying to figure things out backwards is how you end up with people who can't tell the difference between house and trance. The clearest way to learn anything about musical movements is to start from the beginning. |
