I thought this would be worth sharing since this is a very beautiful album of electronic music. Petar really takes the listener on a journey with his melodies. Most of the tracks are over 10 minutes long, and they each have a very unique atmosphere. I mean it's still Petar Dundov, yes, nothing drastically different about the way he does things, but it's arguably Petar Dundov at his best.
Producer Petar Dundov runs his own 'Neumatik' studio in Zagreb where he works as a sound engineer as well as producing his own take on techno, house and electronica. The new album 'Ideas From The Pond' is his most accomplished work to date and features beautifully layered techno, hypnotic rhythms and shimmering melodies that make this a real landmark release for the Croatian DJ/producer.
To Dundov, "techno is music that precedes movement. It is dance music, solid enough to carry emotions through the dance floor and abstract enough to be a template forever".
And indeed his breathtaking productions embody this ethos, serving the inherent function of making your body pulse spontaneously while also challenging your brain with its complex melodies and slow-burning, hypnotic progressions. Although maybe the word "techno" doesn't give enough detail about his style, it's probably the nearest ballpark to whose principles his music adheres – and he is keen to expand the horizons of what people know and expect of the genre. But it's that sense of his tracks being alive, forever evolving and expanding and increasing in intensity, which gives his music its unique sound and has seen his work crossover into a myriad of different areas of the global electronic music scene.
The last three years have seen his mind-bending album "Escapements" take the scene by storm with its intricate, ever-changing melodies. Taking the listener from the club to a tripped out dreamscape, his new album 'Ideas From The Pond' brings musicality back to techno and shows that minimal doesn't need to be one-dimensional. Driving, thrilling and emotionally charged 'Ideas From The Pond' is set to cross the techno/house/trance divide and become one of the essential electronic albums of 2012.

I bought some Petar Dundov stuff without really knowing anything about him, and I was really impressed.
This will be great at work tomorrow.

This album is fantastic. Yeah, perhaps nothing new, but he's really explored the idea and pushed it to its full potential here.

He had a couple of aliases. Amongst others, he was DJ UNREAL in the early 90es, involved in all kinds of crazy parties in this city(the highlight was probably the Under City Rave, it was a huge thing in the underground during the war time '93, in the "secret" tunnels below the city, used in case of a full-out attack on the country. And then there's The Future Shock, the biggest festival of all in the 90es). He was beloved for a long time when Zagreb's scene was still awesome. The scene then died, many programs shut down, a couple of festivals died too(most importantly - The Future Shock and FSOZ). Then the scene went underground, even deeper, practically died, but Petar kept going at his thing at a low profile(Zagreb-scene-wise). He had some great releases over the years, regular gigs in the clubs in the city and around Europe(mostly Germany - Tresor, now Berghain, etc). Hell, even Sven Vath says he's a fan.
The sad thing is that, as I'm almost 20 years old, when I mention Petar Dundov to my friends they are like "who the is that!?" "Did he maek levelz dubstep remaek!??". And I live in Zagreb. . But he is getting more and more recognition with the younger crowd, I spam my friends with talking about him from time to time, some of them love Distant Shores. And with more and more gigs he's doing in the city, there is still some hope for my generation I think.
Anyway, in my book he is THE most important EDM artists Croatia's ever had. Luckily he didn't go the tech hau5 bandwagon like most of the "veterans" did.
Some nice old tracks by him:
Love this one:
And here is some nice trance by Dundov:
Reminds me of Cosmic Baby.

mind blown. You have well developed music taste for being that young
Also cool story bro, without even being sarcastic. The tracks you posted was spot on. The acid in Overture made me fistbump.

You're a rare breed. You should be offered 3 or 4 scholarships to the university of electronic music.

Brother's Yard was started by Petar and his twin brother Šimun, who later passed away, and was, as Petar says, a God-given talent. They were one the first live acts with a record release on the international success scale in the entire country. Their first release finally properly launched their careers, and made them as recognizable in the scene. After his brother's death, Petar continued with the project, but started to focus on his personal, solo career. He still does live shows under that name sometimes, but rarely, on special occasions only, or when the better promotors specifically ask for it.
