Enough IS ENOUGH!

Labour of Love at GUV was totally a danger to the patrons at the complex. From reading all the reviews and BEING there MYSELF, I've decieded to maybe do something with everyones help.
I hate the fact that I have to go to GUV/KOOLHAUSE to see my fav. dj's but suffer intolerable conditions with over capacity crowds and soaring temperatures.
THe fact that DESIDEL's GF almost died! has to make this a serious issue. Were paying good money to see these dj's but are treated like lambs to the slaughter.

This is the email of their PR representitive... Lets flood them with complaints and tell them what going on...We could even send them links to our forum or even TRIBE'S forum to read it for themselves.

I was considering doing this last night, although today my anger has subsided...I dunno if I'm in the mood to email her now, too much of my own personal problems.

I am emailing her now!

While it's a good idea to contact her, remember that she is on the Guv's payroll, & the Guv is only looking out for themselves. I started to give a bouncer an earfull last nite, but spared him, since he is not the one letting all those people inside & collecting the cash. I thought it was ridiculous that we were supposed to have access to all 7 rooms, but good luck getting to them. He said "the management does not know what they're doing", when I bitched about the crowds & 1-way traffic (tho that was probably necessary), but I have to disagree with his comment. The management knows EXACTLY what they are doing, and that is taking our money. Everything else doesn't matter.

Write letters to newspapers, call news reporters, gov't officials, etc, to draw the heat to the club. The more public it is, the better. Be sure to mention the word 'payoff' in your letter too. Publicly embarrassing the fire marshalls who are being paid off is what they deserve.

I think it's useless...
It was probably done before.. We are not the first ones annoyed by the guvernment management and organization (err, rather lack of it)..
They just have the power.
And as long as they keep on bringing in the DJs we love, we will keep coming back, even though we know we will face overcrowding, the shirtless ginos, the sketchy asians, the lack of air flow inside, being treated like by bouncers, etc. etc.

I don't think it is useless to write letters and/or emails. But yes it is difficult to actually make them listen. I mean they have a whole mattresses full of cash and those smiling teeth are getting fitted for gold caps.

But the object is to make them feel a little guilty for what they have done. Whether it be flooding the PR directors mail box and she has to press the damn delete button tons of times. Or of course the best thing to do is what tatgirl recommended especially when it come to the media. I actually wonder what is going to be said in the beat section of eye next week. Are they going to paint a glossy picture of the event or are they gonna say it like it realy was? I am truly curious if the guvernment has everyone in Toronto wrapped around their greedy fat fingers.

In reality what we need is competion in Toronto that rivals this place. Once we have that I think ownership and Promotion will be a little more concerned about the people that make em rich. Also it would be nice if city governments would recognize and respect the rave community and make it easier for them to have events like that in nice venues like the BLC. Putting money in the pockets of ravers and rave promations is what I'd really want to do. Not to Chales Kabhoth or Benson and Hedges.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

thanx for all ur concerns .. itz really appreciated. Unfortunately at this point I'm basically just gonna take a bit of a break from partying at Guv. I hope that some of you can get some words through to these people to avoid an unpleasant accident. I honestly believe that the place is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. One of these days someone is gonna get jacked, or a fire is gonna break out and people are gonna try to evacuate. Honestly I don't want to be around when that happens.. and no matter who is spinning or how good the set is, nothing is worth risking your life like that not even trance. Hopefully this is gonna get into some people's senses and reach a point when the owners will take notice. I just hope they aren't the kind of idiots that have to wait for people to die before they begin taking action.

If anyone wants to party it up i'll be at Systems or Viva.

Yeah, I'm still gonna go to Guv...but rarely. Never for a special event (Goldclub, or Smirnoff), Spin Saturday's...I'd give some thought. Only private parties, like the one with Sander K.

There's no use in complaining to them... they don't thrive on customer service or anything... as long as people attend the events, they are content.

I was talking to a buddy of mine that's a bouncer inside guv... he says the owner is a greedy bastard... he doesn't care how full the club is... the more the merrier

Funny that someone should bring this up, because I too was looking into this.
What's not funny is the fact that The Guvernment seems to think that it's above the law when it comes to it's capacity regulations.

I found http://www.agco.on.ca/pdf/Non-Forms...00%20-%20LL.pdf and it wasn't easy to find.

It clearly shows a bar on PAGE 2 being charged for overcrowding and premitting narcotics on the premises.

It appears that the AGCO (Alcohol & Gaming Commision of Ontario; formally the LCBO - Liquor Control Board of Ontario) is the governing body that we could call attention to.

While having the email address of The Guvernment's publicist is handy, I think an email from us, letting them know that we've contacted the AGCO regarding their door policy might get a little more action.

I'll definately be looking more into this.

[edit] omg ...check PAGE 3...it's a whole page dedicated to Plans and capacities of a licensed premises
