New project, new artist name?

I'm reviving an old album project idea that I started a while ago, and I'm considering whether I should complete it under the 'cryophonik' name, or under a new name. It's a collaborative project that will consist of myself, several of the singers that I currently work with, and probably another new singer and some other musicians (mostly guitarists) that I have known for a while. The thing is, it's not really new territory for me, since it will be primarily downtempo/chillout stuff, all of which I've been doing for years. But, it seems to me that the common convention is to have separate artist names for different styles. Personally, I've never really agreed with that because I think that showing some diversity is a good thing, as long as there is some degree of consistency in terms of style. But, I'm wondering if maybe I've crossed that line.
I've tried to make a conscious effort to not get labeled as a "trance producer", not because there's anything wrong with that but because that's not really my strength. However, most of the songs I've released have generally been EDM stuff, so I'm starting to wonder if the cryophonik name has already been pigeon-holed. And, if it has, so what? It's not like it's a household name, but it's a start. Would I be better off building on the name, or starting over with a new name?
The one last consideration that I'm wrestling with is that "cryophonik" is generally thought of as me and, while I am the core of the project, it will obviously feature a lot of different musicians. So, keeping it under my name seems misleading from that perspective.
Thoughts, suggestions, advice - throw it at me. If there's going to be a name change, I'll be putting together a new website, FB, etc., so it's not really a trivial matter AFAIC. |

I'd put it under a new name just for the sake of the other musicians involved. Cryophonik sounds like an individual. Otherwise your tracks will have to be Cryophonik feat. Blah Blah (singer/guitarist ect) If you've got other people you plan on working with consistently and maybe even doing a live show (?) you're probably better off with a new name.
Ask the people you plan on working with how they feel about it |

I asked a couple of them and they both suggested:

But, they weren't serious.

I actually have a few names picked out, but I just need to decide if I'm going to change it. I think meriter raises some good points and is pretty much in line with the way I'm leaning. |

Well, that's what I'm trying to do. But, I really do have to over-think this one because it requires a large investment of my free time to get a new name and website(s) going, so I want to make the right decision now. |
