Not sure how many of you caught this article, but it's definitely a very interesting read.
A five-part series at CBC Music on the current state of Canadian techno, house, and bass culture.

"Dimitri Nasrallah is a music journalist/critic who has written extensively about electronic music since 2002. His writing has appeared in The Globe & Mail, Montreal Gazette, Resident Advisor, Urb, Eye Weekly Toronto, AOL Music/Spinner.ca and Exclaim!, where he was the Frequencies editor (dance & electronic music section) from 2009 to 2011.
Active on the industry side of Canadian eletronic music for over a decade, he is currently the Director of Promotions & Interactive Content at Montreal's MUTEK Festival. He also sits on the formation committee for the Juno Awards' Electronic Album of the Year category, and has belonged to the national pool of Polaris Prize jurors since 2007.
Apart from music, he has published two novels, Blackbodying (2005, winner of the McAuslan First Book Prize) and Niko (2011, winner of the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction). He lectures as a member of the English Department at Concordia University." |
