I like them both, but prefer Jon Stewart. Colbert is wittier and sharper I think, but Jon's presentation is a lot smoother and I feel he presents his no BS, "ok here's what they said but here's what they meant" take on things more effectively. Some of his interviews are excellent. He will have a respectful discussion with anyone, no matter how much he disagrees with them, and only cut into them (which he has shown he can) if the interviewee shows hostility (see Jim Cramer). His vibe is always to assume that we (almost) all want the same things in the end, it's just the process of getting there that we disagree on. His extended interviews on the web often add quite a bit to the conversation. It just sucks that their web player sucks goat balls.
I catch The Daily Show almost every single night. I watch it with my 14 year old black lab and rub her stomach. I don't get to spend enough time with her as I like, so that's our time together every day.

Love both.

I know there are similar satirists abroad. UK's Charlie Brooker is probably my favourite,
Dont know if youre watching, but in the UK theres a weekly show called 10 o'clock live. Unsuprisingly, it features Brooker, but also david Mitchell, who can give Brooker a run for his money any day in the curmudgeon department, and Jimmy Carr who ... well he just needs to be experienced.

Because I lack something remotely similar to what might be called "common sense", I sometimes spend a whole hour watching fake news shows about the politics of a country thousands of kilometres away from where I live. And, I find it awesome - mainly because politics there is not altogether different from the kind of politics we see here. Except there are far more than just two big parties, which makes elections here a more complicated mess. Still, I believe we can all relate to the inane name calling, the emotional rhetoric, the logically insane argumentation, and the hilarious gaffes inherent to politics over the globe. I know I can.
I feel the exactly the same. I watch it everyday on thier websites ( for some reason they are not blocked here ) I was more of a Stewart fan at first, now I enjoy Colbert even more, because he IS a character. I love how he sacrificed his own personality to create this persona ( Andy Kaufman level of commitment) I love thier sensibility and intelligence.
It also makes you sad when you see the level of dicourse on their shows ( especially in Stewart's interviews ) compered to other news channels. And yes, I said 'other', because I find my news there

Who the hell doesn't like Stewart and Colbert? :wtf:
I like both but Stewart is better because he's a bit more serious. Colbert takes the satire a little bit too far sometimes, but that's his thing and it works really well.

Edit: Typo.
They are both helping dumb down the masses by dividing the system even further because they are the counter opposites to the people they satirize. (Rush, Hannity, Republicans)
Don't get me wrong they have valid points to make, but then again the rhetoric from the show isn't geared towards solving any issues. The rhetoric is to let the demons run amok as the audience gets to laugh.
Personally they both probably make a 6 figure salary per year if not more, and in the world we live in now days it is easier to laugh at real world problems than to really think most of the time.

Shut the up, we_R_DNA, get your ing brainwashed government propaganda bull out of here. God, do you think everything is a ing conspiracy?
infinity HiGH
Both Stewart and Colbert often will have guests on their respective shows that offer more insight into the problems facing America, and the potential solutions than the talking heads from Fox News that you compare them to. You're really quite ignorant if you think all they have to offer is "helping dumb down the masses by dividing the system even further because they are the counter opposites to the people they satirize."
