| I'm sorry, but booking Dubfire again is a straight up money-grab. Piknic gets him for cheap and they hope that he will draw the same crowd as last year. That is the only reason Dubfire is playing again, and IMO it's a huge disservice to the real fans. And ffs he just played Stereo last night! So what now, Piknic rehashing the same acts a la BeB? |

Dubfire plays in Toronto and Montreal like 3240912409234905 times a year. Sometimes it just gets old. |

Like I said, it's funny how the 'no one plays 2 years in a row' rule applies only to some.
Mark Farina for Piknic 2012. |

hahaha...some people need to expand their horizons beyond the same old names.... |

| And that has always been Piknic's role. It's disappointing to see them hand one of their world renowned coveted slots to someone who has already established his name so heavily in the city. |

| its still a business thats growing guys, having one massive party to kick off the summer probably makes them a lot of money to cover costs on smaller days, when it rains, etc... plus a massive party with lots of promo will drag new people who've never been before to check it out cuz of the huge crowd opening day. Totally makes sense. |

| Generally I would agree with you, but Piknic's presence is firmly established at this point. Many who have been going for years (like myself) have largely lost interest since it got "discovered" and the shift has gone from music lovers to kids looking for a place do drugs and hook up. I'm not claiming that the organisers owe us anything, but they have not had to worry about covering costs for quite some time now. If it's nice, it'll be packed, regardless who plays. If the weather's off, it'll still have a healthy crowd. The ticket price has gone from $10 to $15, and it's still more than worth it considering what they're offering, but claiming a need to break even or attract a larger audience are simply not the case here. |

Dubfire's set at opening was only Ok, was meh nothing special.
Seen him flop a few times @ (()) but....the times, he's been on he's been incredible. Lee Burridge was one of my most meromable Pik nik's. Looking foward to that one.
When does Pik nik release the line up for 2012 season ?? |
