go to $25 free trial????

click the link.

browse the loans that people require.

Then click > use 25$ free trial beside the loan you feel you can put your name behind. It send you to the sign up page.

What you need to understand is that Kiva is a LENDING site which means if you put in your own money, you get that money back later, to either take back or lend to another borrower.

(of course, the first 25 dollars from the free trial doesn't go back to you, it goes back to the donor)

Baffles me as well... Perhaps people have become numb to these kinds of requests and suspect there is some sort of 'catch' and so do not delve further.

i have heard about kiva for so long and really wanted to get involved but now i see how easy it actually is, i can't believe that every single person is not signed up. this is the perfect way to help people. not give them handouts but help them out by giving real loans that they have to pay back, just like in first world countries. these people don't have easy access to credit cards like we do so this is the perfect way to give them access to cash to help themselves. it really gives the people the power and responsibility to improve their lives.

Margaret sent me the invite and I've been browsing the site. Pretty awesome idea. My first loan will be to a Filipino lady with the same name as my momma.

This is brilliant!
Likewise I'm going to do some reading. Threw it up on my facebook page there for others to have a read as well. If I'm honest I was completely oblivious to this sort of 'charity'.

Cheers for sticking this or I wouldn't have seen it.

Been a Kiva member for a few years now, ever since one of my yoga teachers handed out $25 gift certificates as Christmas presents. Stellar organisation, one well worth contributing to.

If I lend real money, do I get interest back?
PivotTechno
No. Once a loan is repaid in full, you have the options to reinvest or withdraw your funds.

yeah, no unfortunately not. the people do make interest but it's the people that actually have the infrastructure to collect the loans earn the interest.

The lack of interest in this concept is disheartening.

Am I missing something?
