So what is everyones opion on cyclists using the roads in Ontario? Do they irritate you or would you rather have them use the sidewalks?

I would rather they use the road - but if you're a cyclist, don't be an idiot and take up the whole lane. Keep to the right! It's for your own safety as vehicles pass you.

You should be using a good chunk of the lane because of sewers. This way, you can stay a consistent distance from the curb to avoid them. Otherwise, you are weaving in and out, adjusting for on coming sewers, which makes it more dangerous for cars to pass, because they don't know how far out you will be.
I also find this works better because it changes the way a driver views the situation. If you stick to a foot off the curb, a driver will try and squeeze by you, trying to stay in the right lane. But if you are further out, they realise there isn't enough room, and appropriately move into the other lane to pass.

Neither. Dedicated lanes would be ideal. I know it is difficult in places like Toronto, I accept that. But in places like Mississauga, that have massive roads, and massive shoulders, they should be putting in bike paths everywhere. There is so much room on Erin Mills Parkway, you could easily fit it in.
Simply, if crammed euro cities can do it, our expansive cities should be able to as well.

Agreed 100%
Theres definitely been a huge shift towards making roads more cycling friendly in the last decade. New neighborhoods everywhere have wide roads to account for the space needed for cyclists + parking. Its a joy to ride through those areas.
I think introducing this into the downtown core will have to wait for the next gentrification cycle. Sort of like the transformation up in around Davisville.

I absolutely loath messengers on bikes - they have no respect for ANY rules - pedestrian or car
every time they near an intersection, they suddenly become a pedestrian and ride right through people walking
or if it's a 4-way crossing they charge without looking at where everyone is going
I absolutely LOVE when they ing twinkle their bells at me when they're riding on the pedestrian side of the street

But would you be willing to pay higher prices, for them to follow the law?

More than a few times (and especially on multi-lane roads) I've taken up a whole lane as a cyclist. It's safer than trying to squeeze the curb because that's when people will try and wedge past you and bump you off the road. If you take a whole lane they'll usually change lanes around you. I've had way too many times as a cyclist where people brushed me with mirrors or nearly did and were less than 6 inches from hitting me.

you're the type of cyclist that i would run over.
i consider a cyclist as a pedestrian because a bicycle is not a motorized vehicle. if a pedestrian must walk on the road then they should use the SIDE of the road and not in the middle of a lane.

Well yeah, anyone in your peripheral vision is guaranteed to be safe. So considerate!
