....other than the fact that it could be stupid expensive :eyes:

I heart Beatport - price is legit and selection is amazing imo. Labels and artists don't make anything off $1 songs on iTunes.

yea i dont mind paying to support the artists and all that, just sucks when you pay $30 for 12 tracks

Vinyl used to be $10-$15 a track so it still feels like a deal to me  You can't really expect niche music to be priced the same as Lady Gaga since she can make it up by selling loads of tracks whereas a good EDM release might sell several hundred copies.

Ultimately, I try to think of price as a filter to make sure you really only buy great music. If a track isn't worth spending the money on, it's not worth playing out.

EDIT: Another tip I try to do - is leave tracks in my hold bin for 2-3 months before buying them since they drop down in price after that. Sure I'll buy stuff for a gig if I need it earlier, but in general I think it helps to separate which tracks are the real keepers in addition to helping with the price.

yes.
i don't dj, so i don't buy as much music as you would, but i still buy stuff on beatport if i'm really into it. unless it's something i feel that i "have to have. now.", I'll toss it in my hold bin (along with tons of other tracks) and then whenever i'm making a purchase i'll dig through the hold bin and bring a few tracks out to add to the purchase and x a few out of the bin that no longer seem that special to me.

Agreed, it always amazes me how differently you look at a track in 6 months.. Sometimes you love it even more than when you first heard it, other times you wonder what in the world you were thinking when you put it in the cart.

AHAHHAHA this is so true! A lot of times when I'm practicing I'll load up a track I bought a while ago but never really played and I'm like... wtf is this , I payed money for this?

I personally love Beatport. Fantastic layout. The price is a little high comparatively, but I also know for a fact that the labels are actually making the money they deserve off of it.

I do, however, wish there was an advanced search feature where you could search by BPM and Key (at the same time). I, for instance, don't have many tracks in G Minor above 130 bpm. I'd love to be able to type into a search field "G Minor, 135, Trance" and get a bunch of tracks to listen to and potentially buy. That would be awesome :eyes:

a.l.d.i.
yeah. thats something they need to work on. i tried to use google with all those key and beatport. then i have to annoyingly sit there and open each link manually. But since google is a learning software it makes my previous searches my priority.. so yeah a fery annoying and time consuming but sometimes you can round up some tracks like that

Could always use Ableton to change the key

Or if you're dead-set on CDs you could always burn 3 copies of a track with the regular key, +1 and -1
