hi guys I really need your views on this. could be a very useful tip for you also

I have just wrote what I believe to be an amazing verse for my song. the problem I have is that in order to create a verse that is affective I mimic aniother track I like. basically I wrote me lyrics around the number of sylables in each sentence of another track. my rythm for the lyrics sound spot on. my song is completely different in subject to the other but can I get done for copyright if none of the words are the same.

oh I have fallen into the trap of singing mine to the same rythm lol oops

cheers guys

are you going to be making more than it costs for say 2 consultations with a lawyer ?
DjNeilKilroy
Surely you cant copyright a vocal rhythm. Guess im gonna need to add some sylables and remove some so it sounds more different. Lol

well before you worry about that, ask yourself, is this even an issue regardless if you did or didn't break a law. Unless you plan to make over 10 000 , i wouldn't worry about anything. Copyright only matters if you are making money. And no , melody and words are all you can copyright.

Thanks pal your a massive help. I see your point. :-)

you need to not exaggerate your issues. This was neither massive or a dilemma. If a big guy named tony comes to your door saying you aren't worth being sued but Vivendi feels you don't need all your fingers, then you have a massive dilemma.
