I'm a 15yr Old And I'm About To Co-Found a New Record Label. Is This a Good Idea?!?!? (pg. 2)

Hey bro,

I'm 17 years old, and I can tell you right now; there's a long way to go before you open up a record label. In fact, I tried to do it myself about a year ago...two attempts to be exact. You need immense marketing, top quality distribution (if you want to use LabelWorx, you need a massive selection of tracks ready to be released), and quite simply organization beyond anything you have ever seen. It's just probably not going to happen unless you're ready to shell out thousands for help, custom website design, distribution, marketing, and other nonsense. For me, it's a waste of time now. I'd focus on releasing a crap load of tracks on other labels first, so if you do want to do this in the future, you will have an established name.

Anyways, short answer, no, it probably won't happen. Sorry man :P

...and China? I wouldn't recommend heading off with some sketchy business partner.

in all honesty. i would not be surprized if there are some filthy nouveau-riche chinese and they have a son who also is filthy rich and is willing to spend anything to get a piece of the western cachet. YOu have to be careful but i really don't see why people are viewing china as this poor country that will rip you off. Sure they will rip you off but they are not poor. I mean if the guy was nigerian, sure, but china is not the same china even 10 years ago.

I didn't say China is a poor country, did I? Simply saying, you shouldn't be doing business with a person on the other side of the world that you've known for a few days.

Total scam. Nobody finds another nobody on the other side of the planet with no apparrent business skills, and asks them to go into business with them based on their unsigned songs. Email him back and ask him how much initial investment he is looking for.

when you are chinese, you don't really have a choice. As long as they fork over the money. But ya. this is a scam because money gets you people that have connections and this is clearly not the case.

This.

Apart fromt the obvious scam i wouldn't release my music under a label managed by a 15 year old guy, sorry, there are already enough incompetents in the market, and you need a financial pillow behind you to start a business, how would you expect to pay the masterings, promotion, what kind of contacts in the industry you have?¿

definitely focus as much on school as you can, that's where your real future is... the one where you can sustain yourself and your lifestyle. aside from that, don't do it just because you got an offer from a stranger. focus on your music.

Alrity then, looks like im saying no to this guy. I think my own music is more important atm. And speaking of my own music. For anyone thats listened to my previous tracks, u'de know that EQ'ing has always been a problem, especially in the low end. However, I think that I may have finally made a bassline without any EQ problems. What do you think? (Started this about 24hours ago)

Any feedback possible??? (and yes, i know this isnt the right section of the forum, but this thread is getting a lot of views and I would like as much feedback as possible)

Please, don't do this. Not for any reason.

are you using monitors or monitoring headphones, or at least some dj cans? you're wasting all of our time and yours if not. your problem is your sound selection is . your kick is terrible too. you worry too much about eqing and mixing before you have a solid sound coming out of your channel.
