If Digweed was at a club in Vegas a couple of nights before EDC, I would do it. The Casino rooms are super cheap earlier in the week before EDC, so why not turn the week into SMC (Vegas Summer Music Conference)?
Now watch someone tell me this isn't possible since Insomniac booked DJ's can't play in Vegas 12 months either side of EDC... |
Not possible. My concept is in July, reason being because I am flying in DJs from all over into San Diego for my birthday party there. This was going to be an extension of that, just shuttle all the guys I already had in SD.

I just don't understand what are you trying to do. You are doing a one-off event in Vegas, and asking SoCal, SF loyal EDM supporters to go to your party, and you want to do non-cheese EDM music there.
Issues:
1) Vegas is the worst place for doing non-cheese EDM party.
2) One-off is problematic; by definition you are not building anything long-term or solid.
3) Why not have it in your backyard, SoCal, or even SF? I don't know about SoCal. I am sure you can draw much better with Diggers in SF. If you understand how things work in SF, and work with the right people here, you can have a cracking party, EVEN initially when you have low attendance. I have seen it numerous times, cracking parties with low attendance. It is not something crazy or weird. It is totally calculated by the promoters. But with Diggers, low attendance is unlikely in SF. |
1. It's the worst place to throw a party PERIOD, something that I realized on friday.
2. It's a one off this year only. It was going to be my first "official" party, I was going to finally get into the industry with the SD and Vegas events in July.
3. As stated, I am already having something in SD. This Vegas party would just be an extension of it since I already have a b c d e artist playing in San Diego. I was trying to get a feel from people that I don't know if the draw was there or not. Thing is the more I look at it, Diggers would't work.
What I came to the conclusion is, with out a solid headliner name (that's not taken) it's not going to be possible to open the venue I am working with. Because a non-commercial DJ thats not huge will not bring in the bottle service crowd, which is the crowd that covers a large part of the bar minimum. |

my personal opinion is that Diggers is not an appropriate dj to play a major hotel casino venue on weekend....
if the #s are so out of wack maybe best to skip the Vegas part?
I do have an idea though i'll PM you about. |

| I think you would lose your ass on digweed on a wednesday in vegas. |

As a huge Digweed fan, I would not make the trip to LV to see him for one reason: the crowd. I think the douchey bottle service crowd would really taint a night of great underground house music, even if there was a significant proportion of diehard fans there. And I don't think Digweed is right for a mid-week Vegas gig anyway.
You're better off booking a couple of decent names who the LV promoters don't consider cool, but who are in fact still big to the real fans. But it would have to be someone who's not out west a great deal. There's so many big name DJs out there who haven't played the west coast for a while (or the US for that matter) who would attract fans any days of the week. The big question is: would the bottle service crowd come for someone they've not heard of? |

I don't need a headliner anymore.
This thread is now pointless, I am working with a few venues.
But I will touch base on everyone's questions:

He doesn't have a strong draw in Vegas. Last 2 Persian parties didn't do so well...

It's not a mid week event. It's going to be something on a fri/sat as I stated earlier. |

| I don't understand why the big clubs in Vegas don't have a wider variety of DJ's playing. I realize brosef douche bag electro(Afrojack, AVIICI, Guetta, etc..) is whats hot at the moment, but clubs like XS and Marquee could book Diggers, Cox, Hawtin, Lawler, etc.. and still sell out on a Fri/Sat night just because of the club name+tourists. Too bad Vegas clubs are so narrow minded when it comes to bookings :( |
