They're just different is all. I <3 my East Coast days and remember them quite fondly.
LA seems to have a bigger variety and a lot more of the types of genres and sub-genres I like that come more often here.
The good thing about the East Coast scene which is also it's Achilles Heel is there are a lot less annoying noobs bc it's mostly clubs and less so all ages raves. [More 18+ nights actually in DC than in LA but lot less annoying irresponsible young people show up.]
We also have WAY more outdoor/desert/forest parties. That is something I always missed that we didn't have enough of in DC. In general more pool parties and park parties/day parties in the summer too. |

| even though ultra allowed sub 21 year olds in just like EDC, i was struck by how much less 'ravey' ultra was as compared to EDC. no cuddle puddles, not as much gloving or kandy, it was pretty refreshing :) love the miami clubs too, although space was a bit of a disappointment after all i'd heard about it. |

True true. I've been to a lot less good parties since I moved back to LA but that's because I'm broke and rarely go out, not because there aren't lots of good parties. |

About a year ago you could go to Josephs to party til the afternoon.
Actually minus Miami (Yes it is part of the East Coast but when I think of NE not the South) & New York, East Coast clubs actually close earlier/ there are way less afterparties than in the West Coast. Something I always hated living in DC was how most clubs closed at 2-3AM and how if you were lucky there might be an afterparty that went til 6AM. |

haha, pretty much everything except for the music: 1) extremely long line to get in despite the club being nearly empty when i got in, 2) extremely high price at the door ($70, although i was expecting that), 3) extremely rude bartenders (don't get me started), 4) extremely ed up crowd with zero energy... granted it was 6 in the morning but the last few times i've been at avalon at 6am it's still been energetic. although the lack of washers prob makes up for this point.
i didn't make it up to the terrace since i was there for markus in the main room, so i'll defer to you on that point, and will for sure go back to check out the terrace. |
