Why Umek is currently number 1 techno dj in the world (unless you consider Paul Kalkbrenner "techno" - now thats cheese) is because he managed to change with time to stay relevant (unlike many other techno artists e.g. Chris Liberator etc that have been playing the same they were in 2001 and eventually became irrelevant.) Umek changed yes, he plays "new techno", you didnt catch that wave, it is just not your cup of tea thats all )

Well, I agree with Alex here. There was a time when 1605 was a rocking label. Now it is just like Toolroom. Umek nowadays tends to play more generic bouncy Ibiza tech house (talking about "keeping up with trendy music").
